Jaygayle Music is pleased to announce the December 2, 2002 release of a compact disc of the Music of Zenobia Powell Perry, Volume I, Art Songs and Piano, in conjunction with Cambria Master Recordings of Lomita, California. The album features soprano Janis-Rozena Peri, pianist John Crotty, and flutist Joyce Catalfano and is the first recording devoted to the works of Zenobia Perry.
The compact disc includes Perry's "Homage to William L.Dawson on His 90th Birthday," "Promenade," "Rhapsody" and "Flight" for solo piano; "O the Angels Done Bowed Down," "Threnody Song Cycle;" "Heritage and Life Song Cycle," and "How Charming Is The Place," for soprano and piano; and "The Hidden Words of Bahaullah" for soprano, flute and piano. All selections are ASCAP and are available through Jaygayle Music.
Recorded at West Virginia University in 2001, the album was produced by Jeannie Pool. Tim Rhodes was the recording engineer; editing and mastering was done by Jonathan Marcus of Orpharion Recordings.
